From the M56, south of Manchester
- For Didsbury campus: keep in left hand lane at Junction 3 following sign for Didsbury. Leave at Junction 1 (signposted Manchester city centre and Didsbury) and merge onto A34 (Kingsway). Branch left onto A5145(signposted Didsbury). Campus is on your right after half a mile (0.8 km).
- For Hollings campus: as for Didsbury campus but after merging onto A34 (Kingsway) continue forwards and follow signposts at two roundabouts for city centre. After half a mile (0.8 km) turn left onto Old Hall Lane (signposted Hollings Campus).
- For Elizabeth Gaskell campus: as for Didsbury campus but after merging onto A34 (Kingsway) continue forwards and follow signposts at two roundabouts for city centre. After a further 1.5 miles (2.5km) turn left at the Hospital complex onto Hathersage Road. The campus is immediately on your left.
- For All Saints campus: keep in right hand lanes at Junction 3 (signposted City Centre) and continue from the end of the M56 onto A5103 (Princess Parkway), signposted Manchester city centre. Continue ahead until you reach a major roundabout with an overpass and take the third exit, signposted Sheffield A57(M). At next roundabout take the first exit onto Cambridge Street, turn right onto Chester Street and left onto Oxford Road.
- For Aytoun campus: as for All Saints campus but from Cambridge Street bear right onto Gloucester Street, right onto Whitworth Street West, then left onto Aytoun Street.
From M60 Ring Road, north and east of Manchester
- For All Saints campus: leave the M60 at Junction 22 and turn right at traffic lights onto A62. Continue until the end and turn left onto A665 then, following signs for Universities, turn right. Bear left just before the road rises to become the Mancunian Way and join the dual carriageway, immediately moving into the right hand filter lane to turn right (signposted Manchester Aquatics Centre) onto Grosvenor Street. Follow sign for MMU onto Oxford Road.
- For Aytoun campus: as for All Saints campus but having turned left onto the A665, turn first right onto Newton Street, go straight ahead at traffic lights then left onto Minshull Street.
For Elizabeth Gaskell campus: proceed as for All Saints campus but from Grosvenor Street turn left onto Upper Brook Street, continue to the Hospital complex and turn right onto Hathersage Road.
- For Hollings campus: proceed as for All Saints campus, but from Grosvenor Street turn left onto Upper Brook Street and continue for one and a half miles (2.5km), crossing the A6101 (Dickenson Road) onto Birchfields Road, and turn right into Old Hall Lane (signposted Hollings campus).
- For Didsbury campus: leave the M60 at Junction 1 (Stockport West), take the A5145 for Didsbury and continue straight for 2 miles (3km). At the traffic lights at the junction with the A34 (Tesco ahead on the right) continue straight over following the A5145 to Didsbury and turn right at the T-junction. The campus is on the right after half a mile (0.8 km).
From the M602,west of Manchester
- Proceed to the end of the M602, join the A57(M)(Mancunian Way) and leave by the slip road (signposted Universities) immediately after the MMU buildings visible on both sides of the carriageway.
For the All Saints campus: follow the slip road from the Mancunian Way round to the left and join the dual carriageway (Upper Brook Street). Take the first right onto Cavendish Street, then turn right onto Oxford Road.
- For the Aytoun campus: follow the slip road from the Mancunian Way to the right, turn right at the crossroads, then left into Aytoun Street.
- For Elizabeth Gaskell campus: follow the slip road from the Mancunian Way round to the left and join the dual carriageway (Upper Brook Street). Continue for half a mile (0.8 km) to the Hospital complex and turn right onto Hathersage Road.
- For Hollings campus: follow the road from the Mancunian Way round to the left and join the dual carriageway (Upper Brook Street) and continue for one and a half miles (2.5km), crossing the A6101 (Dickenson Road) onto Birchfields Road, then turn right into Old Hall Lane (signposted Hollings campus).
- For Didsbury campus: follow the road from the Mancunian Way round to the left to join the dual carriageway (Upper Brook Street), continue for 2 miles (3km) to the roundabout and take the first exit for A34. Immediately take the second exit at the second roundabout onto the A34 (signposted Congleton, Wilmslow) and after a further 2 miles (3km) turn right at the traffic signals (by Tesco) onto the A5145 (signposted Didsbury). At the T-junction turn right, continue for half a mile (0.8 km) and the campus is on the right.
