Campus location and structure:
Inspirational surroundings
“The campus is characterised by its rolling green Downs which are unique. During the summer you can rent rowing boats and mess about on the water and all year round there is a walkway which is perfect for jogging or romantic strolls…” The Guardian University Guide 2007
Our award-winning campuses integrate beautiful parkland and countryside with impressive traditional and modern architecture. Ask any of our students and they will tell you that Nottingham’s campuses are simply superb.
Did you know?
· University Park Campus has been awarded a Green Flag Award for the fourth year running. The prestigious awards recognise quality parks and open spaces.
· On the Jubilee Campus, roofs are covered with a carpet of low-growing alpine plants which help maintain steady temperatures within the buildings throughout the year.
· Work is underway at Jubilee Campus for a second phase, which will feature innovative buildings by the acclaimed architect Ken Shuttleworth. The expansion will also see the creation of an Innovation Park.
· Sport at Sutton Bonington is set for a face lift as a brand new £2.4m sports centre is scheduled to open in January 2008.
“It’s really nice having that big green open area. It’s nice to gradually become more independent from your parents rather than being cut off completely. The security is a good feature here and because we’re all together we can interact easily” Tom, 19
University Park Campus
Set around a lake with extensive greenery, the 330-acre University Park Campus is the principal campus of The University of Nottingham. A combination of long established woodland and contemporary landscaped gardens, University Park is regarded as one of the most attractive campuses in the country and regularly receives awards for both its built environment and its landscaping.
The campus is the focus of life for most of our students and features a mixture of period buildings and modern teaching and research facilities, with 12 halls of residence, a conference and exhibition centre, sports facilities and the Lakeside Arts Centre. The hub of student life is the Portland Building, housing the Students’ Union, the International Students’ Bureau, shops, banks, bars and restaurants. All this is just a short bus ride from the city centre on the dedicated Unilink bus service, or a bike ride away on Nottingham’s extensive cycle network.

Medical School
The Medical School is adjacent to University Park and, together with the University Hospital, forms the Queen’s Medical Centre. Medical and nursing students spend much of their time in the Medical School and at hospitals throughout the region. For example, nursing students can be based in Boston, Derby, Lincoln, North Nottinghamshire or Nottingham.
The nearby Nottingham City Hospital houses the University’s Clinical Sciences Building and is home to the Physiotherapy course. Entrants to the Graduate Entry Medicine course are based at the University’s Medical School in Derby, a purpose-built institute based on the site of the Derby City General Hospital.

Malaysia Campus
The Malaysia Campus opened in September 2000 to become the first branch campus of a British University in Malaysia and one of the first anywhere in the world. It is a global institution serving an international community of over 2,000 students from more than 40 countries, and yet is firmly rooted in all that is distinctive about UK education.
The purpose-built ‘Garden Campus’ lies on a 101-acre site near Semenyih, 35km south of Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
The campus features an academic plaza with outdoor amphitheatre, a purpose-built sports centre with swimming pool and mini stadium, a post office, clinic, convenience store, food outlets and launderette.
Accommodation is available both on campus and in the local vicinity, with transport available from the campus to the nearest bus and railway stations to provide easy access to Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding region.

China Campus
The University admitted its first intake of students to the China Campus in 2004 and became the first and only foreign university to establish and run a campus independently within China mainland.
Located at the Higher Education Park in Ningbo, a historic port city on China’s eastern coast, the China Campus is innovative and high-quality, covering a substantial 160-acre area of landscaped parkland and drawing on themes from the University Park Campus.
Overlooking a central lake, the development provides facilities for 4,000 students and houses a range of academic, residential and support buildings including academic offices, a library, a fully equipped sports centre, restaurants and shops. The campus can be reached from Shanghai in approximately three hours by car or 25 minutes by air.

Jubilee Campus
Opened in September 1999 by Her Majesty the Queen, the Jubilee Campus houses the Schools of Education, Computer Science and Information Technology, and the Business School.
Just over two miles from the city centre, the campus offers cutting-edge technology and modern facilities including on-site accommodation for 750 students, restaurants, and a library and computing centre.
The environmentally-friendly nature of the campus has earned the University numerous awards. It sits around a series of man-made lakes which provide cooling water in the summer, and buildings feature a super-efficient mechanical ventilation system, lighting sensors to reduce energy consumption, and photovoltaic cells which convert sunlight into electricity.
Significant phased development of the Jubilee Campus is planned over the next ten years with a new Innovation Park being established in 2008.
A free and frequent bus service links the Jubilee and University Park campuses.
